Boring & Cold this Week; Isolated Snow Tues

Good morning folks! The snow chances for Tuesday have evaporated on the models as the system is too far south on the modeling for any significant moisture to reach our region. That being said, a few light snow and rain showers are likely before midday, but coverage will be isolated and precip amounts around a hundredth of an inch. Beyond this fleeting chance for precip, the remainder of the work and school week looks rather boring, with sunny skies overhead Monday and again Wednesday through Friday morning. There is talk about a late week - weekend snow storm but we are too far out in time to discuss any details, much like the chance for Tuesday, we will wait a few more days before discussing any chances or details; we should know much more by Tuesday afternoon when the next discussion comes out. Temps all the while will peak Monday into Tuesday as they hit the upper 40's - low 50's, cooling down ever so slightly as we move through the week, with an afternoon high around 40°F on Friday across the lower elevations; even colder next weekend. For those who wish for sunshine and near normal temps, this is your week, minus the handful of showers on Tuesday.

We'll kick off the timeline Monday morning and a few light snow showers will pepper the TN line as NW flow gradually dissipates across the area, with a dusting possible along the immediate TN line. Temps Monday warm to the mid 30's - upper 40's depending upon elevation, settling back into the mid - upper 20's under increasing clouds. It'll be blustery above 4000' with NW winds around 20mph, gusting to 35mph, while the valleys enjoy a calmer wind around 5 - 10mph; calms down to a light breeze overnight.

High clouds make up most of the action on Tuesday, alongside a handful of light rain and snow showers before noon, drying out completely by sunset. Temps climb to the upper 30's - low 50's depending upon elevation and no accumulating snow is expected, only token flakes from the few showers that do develop before noon (above 4500'). Overnight lows dip to the low - upper 20's under clear skies.

Wednesday and Thursday offer up sunny skies which should extend into Friday morning, followed by a likely increase in cloud cover as we approach sunset. Temps Wednesday and Thursday reach the low 30's - mid 40's, cooling down to the upper 20's - low 40's by Friday. Overnight lows settle into the teens Wednesday night and 20's Thursday night under clear skies.

We'll stop here to not stoke the fire that has already begun spreading around social media regarding the chances for snow Friday into next weekend. Its possible yes, but those who are sharing snow maps this far out are not sharing the other model solutions that show nothing at all. Take everything you see with a grain of salt over the next few days and don't put stock into anything until Tuesday or Wednesday; it will take several days to iron out the details.

We'll circle back Tuesday afternoon with a new discussion, sometime between 2 - 5pm. ENJOY!
