Gorgeous Labor Day Weekend

Good afternoon folks! The forecast from Friday into Labor Day looks great, even with rain chances on Friday as a front moves through the region with a handful of showers. We'll start the day on Friday with muggy conditions and drier air will likely take till the late overnight hours to really settle into the area, setting up a gorgeous weekend. There is a slight chance for an isolated shower or two on Saturday but the vast majority of SW NC should experience mostly sunny skies. Sunshine continues into Sunday and Monday and the models hint at moisture returning sometime Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, bringing with it increasing rain chances. Slightly below normal temps and very comfortable dewpoint levels will be the highlight for the holiday weekend.

Friday features a mixed bag of clouds and sun, with clouds filling in during the mid afternoon hours as the front swings through the region, prompting a handful of showers to develop. Isolated showers are possible through the late evening hours but rain chances scale back to almost zero overnight into Saturday. Temps will continue to be on the warm side of normal with highs in the low 70's above 5000', while the valleys push to the mid 80's once again. Since it will take most of the overnight hours for the dry air mass to settle into the region, temps will dip into the mid 50's - low 60's depending upon elevation.

Saturday, Sunday, and Labor Day (Monday) brings us mostly sunny skies with a very low chance for an isolated shower on Saturday. Temps will be perfect for early September, climbing only to the mid - upper 60's above 5000' and holding to the upper 70's - low 80's across the lower elevations. Factor in dewpoints in the 50's and it will feel almost fall like, especially each night as temps dip into the low - mid 50's; above 6000' could get down to the upper 40's Saturday night.

Moisture makes a return sometime Tuesday or Wednesday and we'll notice an uptick in shower coverage with each passing day, but so far the models show temps holding to normal levels. We'll stop here and circle back Sunday as there is not much of an update from now and till then, so enjoy the weekend and cooler, drier air!
