Pleasant Sunday; Muggy Monday
Good afternoon folks! Rainfall totals are below our forecasted totals for Friday into Saturday evening with a few locations hitting the 0.75" mark, but most of the region only picked up 0.25 - 0.5" of rain over the 36 hour period. Drier air is moving into the region as of Saturday afternoon and we'll notice shower coverage scaling back to isolated showers tonight, extending through the day on Sunday. It won't be fall - like but we should end the weekend on a nice note with more sun than clouds overhead, followed by a pattern change overnight into Monday. Moisture levels increase, setting the stage for another round of showers throughout the day with a slightly cooler, but still muggy afternoon on tap. Coverage wanes slightly by Tuesday and we'll return to a summer time setup on Wednesday, with above average temps and mostly sunny skies overhead, alongside pop up showers during the afternoon hours.
Dry air will not fully push across our portion of the state Sunday but enough will mix in to setup mostly sunny skies during the morning hours, followed by a gradual increase in clouds as showers develop late in the day. Temps warm to the low 70's above 5000', while the valleys warm to the low 80's and overnight lows settle into the low - mid 60's. We'll notice an uptick in moisture levels overnight into Sunday, enough to spark scattered showers after midnight.
Scattered showers will dot the landscape as we kick off a new work and school week and coverage gradually increases through the morning, peaking sometime during the mid - late afternoon hours. Temps hold to the upper 60's - upper 70's depending upon elevation, with a few towns hitting the 80°F mark and it will feel quite muggy outside. Overnight lows settle back into the low - mid 60's with scattered showers carrying over into Tuesday.
Coverage wanes slightly on Tuesday and there is a better chance for an hour or two or three of sunshine, just enough to stir up the atmosphere that will lead to scattered thunderstorms by the mid - late afternoon hours. Temps push slightly higher to the low 80's across the valleys.
Wednesday into Friday as of this afternoon looks very summer - like with temps in the mid 80's around 1800 - 2300' under more sun than clouds, culminating in a round of pop up thunderstorms during the mid - late afternoon hours.
We'll stop here and circle back Monday, with a peak at the upcoming holiday weekend.
