Same Old, Same Old; Warm, PM Storms
Good afternoon folks! The past few days have been hot for late July but at least we have had ample shower and thunderstorm development each afternoon, providing some shade or cool-down from the rain. We'll deal with another round of midday - mid afternoon showers and thunderstorms on Friday and the weekend features more sunshine but we'll continue to deal with pop up showers and thunderstorms, only this time much later in the day. Coverage increases slightly early next as a ridge tries to reemerge across the region, possibly being stopped by a pattern change later in the week that could bring us below normal temps (a possibility but one we are excited to watch play out). Keep those outdoors plans this weekend, just be aware pop up showers and thunderstorms are a good bet past 4pm both Saturday and Sunday.
Friday rounds out the work week with temps once again warming to the low - mid 70's along the ridgelines while the valleys warm to the mid 80's. Sunshine may start the day but we'll see an increase in cloud cover before noon that should help with warming temps. By noon showers will begin to develop and thunderstorms will break out during the early - mid afternoon hours, slowly fizzling out by the late evening hours. Temps overnight will settle into the upper 50's - low 60's above 5000', with temps in the mid 60's across the valleys; foggy after midnight.
Saturday and Sunday both feature sunny starts and mostly sunny skies will likely extend into the early afternoon hours, followed by partly to mostly cloudy skies around 4 - 6pm as showers and thunderstorms pop up across the region. Shower coverage will be slightly higher on Saturday than Sunday and temps warm to the low 70's - mid 80's each afternoon, falling to the low - upper 60's each night under partly cloudy skies.
Monday and Tuesday gradually increase shower chances, with Monday playing out similar to Saturday (sunny start, late day storms) and Tuesday more like Friday (shower development occurs earlier in the day, high clouds by 2 - 4pm). Temps hold to the low 70's - mid 80's depending upon elevation each afternoon.
We'll stop here and circle back on Saturday with a better look at the possibility for a pattern change late next week.
