Good afternoon folks! We'll focus the forecast discussion starting on Monday, ending Friday, and the main theme for the week will be muggy conditions with above normal chances for showers each afternoon. Pop up showers will kick off the work week and an upper trough associated with the developing low pressure system along the Gulf Coast will bring us widespread showers Tuesday, that will carry over into Wednesday. Temps cool down slightly Tuesday and Wednesday due to increased rain chances and return to normal by Thursday as a mix of sun, clouds, and scattered showers take over the region, likely extending into the weekend.
Temps will warm to the low 80's across the lower elevations on Monday under partly cloudy skies overhead most of the day. As we enter the mid afternoon hours showers and thunderstorms will develop, with the only threat being heavy downpours as moisture levels slowly increase across the Southeast. Temps settle into the upper 50's - mid 60's overnight into Tuesday with mostly cloudy skies during the evening hours scaling back to partly cloudy after midnight as showers slowly fizzle out across the area.
Tuesday and Wednesday will be the wettest days of the week, more so Tuesday as moisture levels peak across the region, taking most of the day on Wednesday to introduce slightly drier air to the area. Cloudy skies will keep temps to the upper 70's across the valleys both days, while the ridgelines struggle to rise above mid - upper 60's. We'll pick up anywhere from 0.75 - 1.25" of rain starting Tuesday morning, ending Wednesday evening, with isolated showers continuing overnight into Thursday; the bulk of this falling Tuesday afternoon/evening. Overnight lows will not move much due to the saturated airmass, only dipping to the low - mid 60's each night.
Thursday and Friday bring warmer temps back to the area with highs in the mid 80's and although we'll enjoy more sunshine, we'll continue to experience showers each afternoon with scattered coverage past midday. We'll stop here and circle back Tuesday with a look into the upcoming weekend.
