Sunny into Friday; Showers Friday Night
Good evening folks! We are in for a cold night as clear skies sit overhead and winds out of the NW push colder temps into the region, resulting in a freeze by Thursday morning as temps plummet to the mid 20's - low 30's. Thursday and Friday keep sunny skies overhead but temps Thursday will remain below average due to continuing westerly flow. Southerly flow takes over Friday, pushing temps to normal levels for mid April and a front swings through late Friday night, bringing with it a round of light showers. Sunshine quickly takes over on Saturday, but another round of rain is likely Sunday late afternoon into Monday morning due to a low pressure system passing to our south and east.
Temps Thursday reach the upper 40's - low 60's depending upon elevation and even though sunny skies sit overhead, NW winds around 10 - 20mph will keep a slight chill to the air, especially in the shade. Temps settle into the low - upper 30's Thursday night under clear skies.
Friday keeps the fair weather train going with sunshine overhead most of the day, followed by clouds building as we near sunset. Temps will warm to the mid 50's - upper 60's depending upon elevation and a southwest breeze picks up during the afternoon hours. Clouds fill in Friday night and showers break out during the pre dawn hours with light rainfall totals, around a tenth of an inch for most of SW NC. Temps Friday night dip into the mid 40's - low 50's depending upon elevation.
Saturday features rain quickly exiting the region but clouds take some time to clear out, with mostly sunny skies likely overhead by the early afternoon hours. Temps warm to the mid 50's - upper 60's once again and clouds hold off till late Sunday morning, with overnight lows in the upper 30's - low 40's. Sunday starts the day with some sunshine but ends it with scattered showers and this event looks light as most of the action is off to our south and east. Showers should wind down Monday morning.
We'll stop here and circle back Friday evening, focusing on the weekend and early next week. Enjoy this gorgeous spring weather!
