Good afternoon folks! We close out Tuesday with a slight chance for an isolated shower or two overnight into Wednesday, followed by clearing skies early Wednesday morning. Sunshine Wednesday and Thursday will bring us the warmest temps of the week, running roughly 4 - 6 degrees above normal. A cold front and upper level piece of energy will swing through Friday, resulting in scattered showers during the day, followed by a break in the action early Friday night. A low pressure system moving up the Appalachians will bring us a second round of rain Saturday. Showers should clear out before sunrise Sunday, providing us with at least one dry day this weekend. There is a chance for some light snow showers tonight and Saturday night, but both setups only favor the TN line and perhaps a few ridgelines nearby.
Wednesday and Thursday both feature mostly sunny skies and temps respond as they push into the mid 40's - low 60's Wednesday and upper 40's - mid 60's by Thursday. Average daily high temp for the valleys in mid - late November is in the upper 50's. Overnight lows dip into the low - upper 30's Wednesday night under clear skies, however due to increasing clouds Thursday night temps only fall into the low - mid 40's.
Rain will swing through the region Friday and it wont be much, perhaps a quarter - half inch of rain as scattered showers accompany the frontal passage. Temps will cool down to the mid 40's - upper 50's and a break in the rain will occur during the evening hours, picking back up just before sunrise; overnight lows settle into the mid - upper 40's.
Saturday will be a wet one outside as widespread rain moves in from the south and west due to a low pressure system pushing through the TN valley, wringing out anywhere from 1 - 2.5" of rain depending upon orientation and location. The further SW and closer to the GA line you are the more rain you will pick up, but everyone should receive a healthy amount of rain. Temps will not move much, only pushing into the mid 40's - mid 50's across the region.
Our next discussion will come out Thursday and we'll have more details about the upcoming rain event and in the mean time, enjoy the sunny weather!
