Showers Late Tuesday; Frost Thursday???

Good afternoon folks! Clouds will clear tonight and after some morning fog, we'll enjoy a sunny start to the work and school week, with slightly above average temps Monday afternoon. Clouds fill back in Tuesday and showers develop late Tuesday, peaking overnight into Wednesday and clearing out by Wednesday night. There is a decent chance for frost Wednesday night and Thursday will be sunny, but chilly as temps only hit the low 60's in the valley alongside NW winds throughout the day. We'll gradually warm back to normal and then slightly above normal levels Friday into next weekend.

Monday is likely to start the day with dense fog, taking till the mid morning hours to burn off, but temps will still make a run at the mid - upper 70's across the valleys, holding to the low 60's along the ridgelines. Overnight into Tuesday temps settle mid - upper 40's under clear skies as high pressure remains overhead, although it will be on its way out the door.

Sunny skies kick off Tuesday but clouds quickly fill in by midday and scattered to widespread showers develop later in the day, peaking in coverage during the late evening hours. SW NC stands a chance to pick up an inch of rain from late Tuesday into Wednesday afternoon, with most of the rain pushing east before sunset. Temps Tuesday only make it to the upper 50's - upper 60's depending upon elevation, possibly a degree or two cooler on Wednesday and as the system clears out Wednesday night there will be an infusion of colder air. Temps should be able to dip into the mid - upper 30's for the valley and low - mid 30's for the higher elevations, with frost a possibility if winds calm down enough across the lower elevations.

Thursday will be sunny but chilly as temps struggle to rise past the upper 40's above 5500', while the valleys warm only to the low 60's. NW winds around 10 - 25mph will occur throughout the day, calming down overnight into Friday. We'll tap the brakes at this point but mention a slow warming trend will take place Friday through Sunday under mostly sunny skies.

Our next discussion will come out Tuesday morning and we'll focus on the immediate rain event with a better look at the cold air scheduled for Thursday morning. Enjoy!
