Spotty Showers this Weekend

Good afternoon folks! We'll put the warmer temps behind us starting Saturday as a front crosses the region and stalls just to our southeast, setting up mostly cloudy skies and light rain chances across SW NC. We don't expect much in the way of rainfall, but even a handful of light showers is better than the ongoing drought, which continues to expand and deepen with each passing week. There still remains a decent chance for widespread rain early next week, although the timeline has shifted to late Tuesday into Wednesday afternoon. We'll experience a day of sunshine on Monday ahead of the incoming rain Tuesday, with clearing skies taking place late Wednesday night and slightly below normal temps are likely for late next week.

Saturday and Sunday both feature mostly cloudy skies, isolated showers and temps in the upper 50's along the ridgelines, warming to the upper 60's - low 70's across the valleys. Sunday may bring us clearing skies before sunset for those closer to the TN line, while locations along and near the escarpment hold onto cloud cover longer. Overnight lows both nights will be chilly but not cold as they settle into the mid - upper 40's the highest elevations, only warming to the upper 40's - low 50's across the valleys; clouds clear out Sunday night.

Monday brings us sunshine and temps warming to the low 60's - mid 70's depending upon elevation, followed by a gradual uptick in cloud cover on Tuesday as a front approaches the region. Temps Tuesday should reach the low 60's - low 70's before the rain arrives, which as of now is scheduled to begin around the late afternoon - early evening hours. Rain will continue overnight into Wednesday and wind down by the mid afternoon hours, followed by clearing skies overnight into Thursday.
