Cooler Temps arrive Friday
Good afternoon folks! The past few days have not been bone dry but they haven't been a soaker either, with storm coverage hit and miss across the region, resulting in some spots exceeding 2", while others were lucky to pick up a tenth of an inch. Looking ahead scattered showers are likely again Monday and Tuesday as a backdoor front migrates south, coupled with a slight uptick in NE flow across the region. We'll dry out again Wednesday under sunny skies and Thursday features a passing cold front but not like the last few fronts, instead one that will actually bring us a change in temps! Nothing is set in stone yet, but as of late Sunday the models point to a few passing showers Friday with temps only 2 - 4 degrees above normal, finally leveling out to normal next Saturday! It's going to be a tough week as we wait for cooler and more seasonal weather to arrive, but it looks like it will be worth the wait as sunny skies dominate the landscape next weekend.
Monday and Tuesday will bring us a slow moving backdoor front that will take most of the day Monday to push south of the region and when coupled with NE flow Tuesday, we expect scattered light - moderate shower to develop both days. Coverage will be similar to the past few days in that some spots will pick up a half inch or more while others remain high and dry. Temps will not be pleasant as they push into the upper 60's - low 70's along the ridgelines, warming to the low - mid 80's across the valleys each afternoon. Overnight lows will generally level out to the mid 50's - low 60's depending upon elevation.
Clouds clear out early Wednesday and sunshine sets up shop for the day and this will carry over into Thursday, with the front not arriving till the late evening hours. The front will not be fast moving but it should be east of the region by the early afternoon hours Friday, setting up a dry weekend. Temps peak to the mid 80's Wednesday and Thursday across the valleys, but cool down to the upper 70's - low 80's Friday and low - mid 70's Saturday; ridgelines go from the low 70's to the low 60's.
We'll come out with our next discussion Wednesday, ahead of the incoming front to make sure all the details are ironed out. Stay cool out there!
