I'd Pay for Rain at this Point
Good morning folks! I apologize for not posting yesterday afternoon, no excuse, just let the day get away from me with chores and chasing down the little one. I'm afraid there is not much to report in regards to rain chances or in a more general sense, a pattern change. An upper level ridge will continue to dominate the eastern half of the country, with two weak fronts crossing the region this evening and Thursday. Both fronts look moisture starved, with the best chance for rain along the TN line and perhaps the Great Balsams, but even these locations shouldn't expect much more than a light passing shower. Temps will remain above average as they hold to the low 80's today through Wednesday, warming even further to the mid 80's by Friday and holding to this level through the weekend.
Mostly sunny skies today (Monday) will give way to increasing clouds this evening. Although isolated shower chances are technically possible across the entire region through the night, we only expect light showers to dot the TN line and the Great Balsams, with one or two breaking containment and making headway as far south as Bryson City, Franklin, Balsam, and Maggie Valley. Temps will push into the low 80's across the lower elevations this afternoon, while the ridgelines enjoy temps in the upper 60's. Temps bottom out to the mid - upper 50's tonight under partly to mostly cloudy skies (depending upon location).
Tuesday brings sunny skies back to the region as the front clears out late tonight and mostly sunny skies will continue into Wednesday and Thursday, with a possible round of high clouds late Thursday as the second front swings through the region. Temps hold to the upper 60's - low 80's each afternoon, although if clouds do not develop on Thursday, temps could make a run to the mid 80's.
Friday through Sunday keep dry and sunny conditions around with temps warming to the low 70's - mid 80's depending upon elevation, with no rain in sight. We'll wait till Wednesday to come out with our next discussion but don't expect much as this pattern looks to stick around through early October.
