Peak Heat Wednesday; Sunny Thur/Fri
Good afternoon folks! A line of storms are trying to work their way across the region this afternoon (Tuesday) and we'll experience another round this evening, with showers lingering into the morning hours on Wednesday. All of this is due to a cold front slowly pushing its way southeast across the mountains, aiming for the coast where it should stall and setup this weekend's shower chances. Wednesday will feature heat indices once again making a run for the low - mid 90's as moisture associated with the frontal passage is slow to clear the area, however a drier setup moves in Thursday and Friday. Mostly sunny skies should hold through the weekend, with a normal summertime setup of pop up showers each afternoon, however the models are unsure as to whether or not a low pressure system moves inland or rides the stalled front along the coast. We should know more by Thursday and if the low pressure system does move inland, our rain chances will increase for the weekend.
Temps Wednesday will climb to the mid 80's across the valleys and could push into the upper 80's if the passing high cloud cover clears the region earlier than expected. Moisture levels will still be a bit high and when coupled with temps in the mid - upper 80's, we'll deal with another day with heat indices in the low 90's. Scattered showers are possible before noon and as we move toward the evening hours, shower chances wind down to isolated, staying there overnight into Thursday. Temps dip into the low - mid 60's overnight, with partly cloudy skies after midnight.
Thursday and Friday feature mostly sunny skies and temps pushing into the mid 80's, with overnight lows settling into the upper 50's - low 60's each night under mostly clear skies. All in all, the last two days of the work and move in week will be ideal considering it's mid August.
The weekend's forecast is not set in stone but for now we are going with mostly sunny skies each morning turning to partly cloudy skies as isolated thunderstorms develop during the mid - late afternoon hours. Temps should hold to the low 70's along the ridgelines, while the valleys reach the mid 80's. We'll keep an eye on the stalled front and development/movement of the low pressure system to our south as this will tell us whether or not we stick with the above forecast or increase rain chances and cloud cover. Our next discussion will come out Thursday late afternoon.
