Widespread Showers Monday into Tuesday

July 20, 2019

Good afternoon folks! Today (Saturday) will be the last day we experience temps in the upper 80's and heat indices well into the 90's. Temps drop a degree or two with each passing day and bottom out Tuesday into Wednesday, returning to normal levels by the end of next week. The high pressure system currently overhead will move out as a front swings through late Monday, exiting sometime Tuesday. An upper level trough will move in behind the front, allowing a drier and cooler airmass to settle into the region, albeit briefly. If you have time to take off from work and have been itching for a few nice days, we recommend taking off Wednesday through Friday.

Sunday keeps enough moisture around for a muggy afternoon, however enough clouds will develop alongside spotty pop up showers to cap temps to the mid - upper 80's across the lower elevations. Temps settle into the mid - upper 60's across the entire region Sunday night, with a very soupy feel to the air as dewpoints remain rather high; isolated shower chances linger throughout the night.

Monday into Tuesday should be our wettest days of the week with widespread showers and thunderstorms traversing the region late Monday afternoon. Although the bulk of the action slides east overnight into Tuesday, scattered showers and mostly cloudy skies will dominate the day Tuesday. With cloudy skies and on and off showers Monday and Tuesday, temps only make it to the upper 60's - low 80's Monday and mid 60's - upper 70's Tuesday! Overnight lows settle into the low - mid 60's Monday night and bottom out to the low - upper 50's Tuesday night; not too shabby for late July.

Wednesday through Friday keep a mix of sun and clouds overhead, with isolated shower chances all three days, however we don't expect much as moisture levels drop significantly behind the front. Temps will push into the mid 60's along the ridgelines, flirting with the upper 70's - low 80's across the lower elevations.

Our next discussion will come out Tuesday and we'll focus on the upcoming cool down and a peek at next weekend.
