A Fairly Normal Setup through Friday
Good afternoon folks! This post is a day behind schedule and we'll focus on the Tuesday through Friday timeline, which doesn't have much in the way of excitement but we do expect temps to slowly rise through the week, with a better chance for showers on Thursday. The remnants of Barry are currently marching north up through the Mississippi Valley and will eventually turn east as the week moves along, pushing into our region sometime Thursday. At the same time an upper level ridge will develop overhead and strengthen by the end of the week, solidifying a normal summertime pattern into the weekend. Temps are typically in the mid - upper 80's across the lower elevations this time of the year and we'll more or less hit these levels, although we will notice an uptick in humidity levels by Thursday.
Tuesday keeps a few more clouds overhead than today but enough sunshine will poke through to bring temps into the mid 80's across the lower elevations, while the ridgelines sit comfortably in the low 70's. Isolated thunderstorms will be the only action and the slight chance for showers will carry into the evening hours, but fizzle out before midnight with temps settling back into the low - mid 60's.
Wednesday offers up more sunshine than Tuesday, while Thursday brings mostly cloudy skies back to the region as the remnants of Barry swing nearby. Temps hit the mid - upper 80's Wednesday and cool down a degree or two on Thursday, with isolated thunderstorms Wednesday and scattered thunderstorms/showers expected on Thursday. Although rain chances increase Thursday, don't cancel your outdoor plans as these showers should be quick moving and enough time will be had in between each to squeeze in time outside.
Friday through Sunday brings sunshine back to the region and a few strong thunderstorms are likely each afternoon, with temps in the low - mid 70's along the ridgelines, while the valleys push into the upper 80's. Friday in particular will feel hotter than Saturday and Sunday as moisture lingers from Thursday, while at the same time temps push into the upper 80's.
Our next discussion will come out Thursday afternoon and I don't foresee any reason I will miss this deadline (travel plans interfered with my ability to post a discussion yesterday).
