Good afternoon folks! Temps are finally at normal levels for late May/early June as they hit the low 80's this afternoon. We'll continue to enjoy temps in the upper 50's - low 60's along the ridgelines and low 80's throughout the valleys as we enter the weekend, with a slight cool down to the mid - upper 70's Monday and Tuesday. Isolated thunderstorm and shower chances hang around each day and our best chance for scattered showers will be late Sunday afternoon. We don't expect much rain over the next few days, but what does fall will certainly help stave off drought conditions that our neighbors in the Update and N GA are experiencing ("abnormally dry" conditions; drought monitor website).
Sunny skies sit overhead Saturday after a front sweeps the region before dawn, helping temps hold to the low 80's across the lower elevations. The ridgelines will only touch the upper 50's after a chilly start in the upper 40's, with NW winds calming down to a steady breeze. Clear skies Saturday night allow temps to settle back into the upper 40's - upper 50's depending upon elevation. Isolated showers dot the landscape around noon on Sunday and scattered showers are possible Sunday afternoon, with highs once again in the upper 50's - low 80's; lows in the low - upper 50's.
Monday brings us a welcomed cool down to the mid 50's - upper 70's, maybe slightly cooler on Tuesday and both days feature mostly sunny skies. Moisture returns by the middle of next week and with it scattered showers that will keep temps to the low 80's across the valleys.
Our next discussion will come out Monday so be sure to enjoy the sunny and comfortable early summer weekend!
