Another Soggy Weekend Lies Ahead

Good afternoon folks! Although temps are below normal and downright frigid at times, we are certainly enjoying the sunshine. This fair weather will not last long as the high pressure keeping sunny skies overhead slides east Thursday, with clouds filling in Thursday night. A round of precip moves in Friday morning with a possible hour or two of high elevation snow and wintry mix for the valleys, before kicking over to a cold rain the rest of the day. Showers wind down late Friday night and pick back up again Saturday afternoon, with heavy, widespread rain swinging through around sunrise Sunday. Precip winds down before sunset and early next week should be pleasant as we enjoy another handful of sunny days, this time with temps slightly above normal!

Temps tonight dip into the mid teens across the valley, while the ridgelines flirt with the upper teens - low 20's as NW winds pick back up above 4000', remaining steady around 10 - 15mph; all under mostly clear skies.

Thursday keeps sunny skies overhead and temps warm to the low 40's - low 50's depending upon elevation, falling to the upper 20's - mid 30's Thursday night as increasing clouds put a lid on temps falling any further. Light precip is expected to breakout sometime around sunrise and if this occurs (some models hold precip back till the mid morning hours), we are likely to experience a short lived round of wintry precip with little to no impacts. The valleys will possibly experience a mix of sleet and freezing rain, while the higher elevations deal with a wet snow and this will all kick over to rain by the mid morning hours as warmer air aloft moves into the region from the southwest. Temps Friday push into the low - upper 40's and with rain falling throughout the day and into the evening hours, it will not be the most inspiring end to the work and school week; although the weekend is nothing to look forward to either. Temps Friday night dip into the low - mid 40's depending upon elevation and around an inch of rain will fall during this first round, with only cloud skies overhead by midnight.

Saturday morning will be damp from the rainfall Friday night and showers look to hold off till the mid afternoon hours, increasing to widespread coverage just before sunrise on Sunday, winding down by the early afternoon hours. Temps Saturday climb to the low 50's - low 60's and increase a few degrees on Sunday to the low 50's - mid 60's, which is small silver lining as a warm rain is better than a cold rain. Overnight lows settle into the upper 40's - mid 50's Saturday night and fall to the upper 30's - mid 40's Sunday night as clouds clear the region.

Early next week features spring like weather as temps hold to the low 60's each afternoon under sunny skies, with a potential for more rain by the middle of next week. Our next discussion will come out Friday late afternoon.
