Good Afternoon Folks! We hope you enjoyed the sunshine today as Sunday marks a three day stretch of spotty showers, culminating in a round of heavy rain and possible light snow on the tail end. Wednesday brings sunshine back to the region and this will extend into Thursday, however it ends there as yet another front is scheduled to cross the region sometime Friday. Temps all the while will be near normal allowing most of the precip to fall as rain, with the one exception being early Sunday morning when freezing rain, sleet or snow may fall. We don't expect anything to stick and warm temps move in fast enough Sunday late morning to kick all precip over to rain. If you're planning ahead and need a dry day or two, you'll have to wait till Wednesday later in the day as 2 - 3" of rain will fall from Sunday morning through Tuesday evening.
Temps Sunday morning will be in the upper 20's - low 30's across the region, with clouds filling in closer to sunrise. Light and isolated showers develop around sunrise and for a few hours precip is likely to fall as a mixed bag, with freezing rain being the biggest concern, although it looks like accretion amounts remain under a hundredth of an inch. All precip transitions to rain as temps warm to the low - mid 40's, with a quarter inch or so of rain by sunset. Temps overnight don't budge much as they settle into the low 40's for most of the region and isolated light showers continue into Monday morning.
Showers remain spotty throughout the day Monday and with the bulk of the action off to the northwest in the Ohio Valley, our region only picks up a quarter of an inch. Showers remain on and off Monday night and become widespread and heavy Tuesday early afternoon as the front swings through the area. Thunderstorms are possible and it is during this time frame we pick up most of the expected rainfall over the next 72 hours, with 1 - 2" likely for the entire region and isolated amounts of 3" closer to the N GA state line. Temps Monday reach the upper 40's - mid 50's and warm even further Tuesday to the low 50's - low 60's as southerly flow increases ahead of the front; overnight lows bottom out to the upper 20's - mid 30's Tuesday night.
Sunshine returns Wednesday and lingers into Thursday, followed by another frontal passage Friday. Temps moderate to the mid 40's - mid 50's all three days, with overnight lows in the upper 20's - mid 30's.
Our next discussion will come out Monday. Till then stay dry and if possible, avoid driving around sunrise Sunday morning!
