A Pleasant and Warm Weekend
Good Morning Folks! The cold snap is behind us and although we are starting the day in the teens and 20's, temps will push to near normal levels this afternoon under a mixed bag of sun and high clouds. Sunshine carries over into Saturday, however clouds fill in on Sunday with only isolated shower chances that will wane late Sunday night, but pick back up Monday afternoon into Tuesday. By the middle of next week a front will be at our door and will be slow. Combined with southwesterly flow out of the Gulf of Mexico, mostly cloudy skies and scattered showers are a good bet for the middle to end of next week. The silver lining will of course be the above average temps, however we'll trade the colder temps in for a dreary looking landscape and we encourage everyone to soak up the sun this weekend before we settle in for a long stretch of cloudy and damp days next week. We are not fully confident in the setup next week so we wont be able to go into details but the overall synoptic setup points to increasing rain chances and warmer weather.
We round out the work and school week today with temps rising to the mid 30's - upper 40's depending upon elevation, ending the long stretch of sub freezing weather along the ridgelines. Those closer to the TN line will see more clouds than if you live closer to the SC state line and winds will be light at best out of the NW. Temps tonight settle into the upper 20's across the valleys and low 30's along the ridgelines as clearing skies, light winds and dry air allow for light radiational cooling across the region.
Saturday and Sunday offer up increasing temps as the afternoon highs soar to the low 40's - mid 50's Saturday and mid 40's - upper 50's Sunday! Saturday will hands down be the better weather day as sunshine sits overhead, while clouds move in late Saturday night and linger across the region Sunday with only isolated shower chances past midday. The disturbance providing the light rain chances will be to our southeast, closer to the coast and with this in mind those who live along the escarpment have a better shot of experiencing rain than if you live closer to the TN or N GA state lines. Temps Saturday night settle into the low - upper 30's and remain above freezing Sunday night, dipping into the mid 30's - low 40's, ensuring that any precip that does fall does so as rain.
Monday into the middle part of next week is not set in stone but the overall setup does point to high passing clouds Monday with isolated showers returning late in the day, carrying over into Tuesday. There is a decent chance we'll experience scattered showers by Wednesday but we'll wait till Sunday to dive into more details to allow the models more time to work out the kinks. Temps continue their slow march upward with temps on Monday hitting the upper 40's - upper 50's and peaking on Wednesday, climbing to the mid 50's - low 60's!!!
Our next discussion will come out Sunday.
