Colder Temps Return Wednesday

Good Morning Folks! We are warming up nicely after the frost start with sunshine overhead today and temps pushing to above normal levels. Easterly flow tonight will begin to develop high clouds across the region, which will continue to build throughout the day tomorrow in advance of the quick moving front off to our west. This front will feature light showers that exit just after sunrise Tuesday, with clearing skies just before midday. A second front will swing through Wednesday, however this front will be dry and mainly usher in strong NW winds and colder, more seasonal temps. Seasonal and at times below average temps, will setup shop Wednesday through next weekend, with the models hinting at another precip event next weekend.

Enjoy the day today as temps push into the upper 40's along the ridgelines and low 60's for the valleys. High clouds develop tonight and cap temps to the upper 30's - low 40's across the region, with winds out of the east around 5mph.

Cloud cover slowly increases throughout the day tomorrow, keeping temps to the mid 40's - upper 50's depending upon elevation. Light showers are expected to swing through closer to midnight and with temps in the low - mid 40's we expect all precip to fall as rain. Showers quickly exit shortly after sunrise on Tuesday with rainfall totals under a quarter of an inch and sunshine should return before the noon hour. Temps will push into the upper 40's - upper 50's once again and this will likely be our last warm day for some time as below normal temps settle in Wednesday.

A second front moves through Wednesday but this front will not be a rain maker, but instead mark a pattern change and also pack a punch as winds howl across the ridgelines to near 60mph at times; sunny skies remain overhead. All throughout SW NC we can expect windy conditions out of the NW, making the afternoon highs feel much colder than the low 30's - low 40's. With this in mind be sure to bundle up and add some sort of windbreaker to the wardrobe.

Sunny conditions continue into Thursday and Friday with temps still struggling to hit the low 30's - mid 40's depending upon elevation, alongside steady NW winds around 10 - 20mph. We'll go into more detail about next week's wind event and expected colder temps, with our next forecast discussion coming out Tuesday morning.
