A Chilly and Damp End to the Week
Good Afternoon Folks! We encourage everyone to enjoy the outdoors today and Wednesday as the pattern changes Thursday, with region wide showers developing and cooler temps setting up shop and not warming much as we move through the weekend. A large system will move nearby the region Thursday night and continue up the eastern coast with showers wrapping around the system Friday. A brief lull in the action will occur Saturday morning before another round of showers moves in late Saturday night, exiting sometime Monday. Temps all the while peak on Wednesday and then level off for the most part, going from the mid - upper 60's Wednesday afternoon to the low - mid 50's Thursday through Monday. Overnight lows pull out of the 30's beginning Thursday night, but only rising to the low - mid 40's, locking in a chilly and damp forecast for the next five days. All of this sounds like a heavy rain event, but instead we will experience only light - moderate showers with scattered coverage and rainfall totals around an inch Thursday through Sunday.
Tonight (Tuesday night) temps dip into the mid - upper 30's for the valleys, while the ridgelines settle into the upper 30's - low 40's due to a slight temperature inversion. Mostly clear skies tonight will roll into Wednesday and setup another sunny day, with highs reaching the mid - upper 60's across the lower elevations. Some clouds move in Wednesday night, nothing more than partly cloudy cover but temps will respond as they only settle into the upper 30's - mid 40's depending upon elevation.
Thursday through Sunday looks rather gray and chilly with temps only reaching the low - mid 50's all four days, even though it may take till the late evening hours for showers to arrive Thursday (models are still not coming together on an agreeable time). Cloudy skies fill in Thursday morning with showers arriving shortly after sunset, peaking in coverage Friday late morning and winding down that night. Saturday features a brief lull in between the two systems and some sunshine may poke through, but for the most part cloudy skies sit overhead and we expect showers to develop late that afternoon. The second round of rain may feature some high elevation snow (above 5500') but we don't expect any accumulations outside of the highest ridgelines.
