Goodbye Florence, Hello Warmth

Good Morning Folks! The impact of Florence on our region was minimal with 1 - 2" of rain dropped across most of the region, with the highest amounts near 3" along and near the Jackson/Haywood county line. Several sites within Haywood county surpassed the 4" mark and even higher amounts could be found as one heads toward NW NC, with a peak wind gust of 74mph atop Mt Mitchell on Saturday. All in all our region was spared, however keep our neighbors to the southeast in mind as they continue to deal with the aftermath of Florence for several more days (mainly river flooding).

Today will feature partly sunny - mostly cloudy skies overhead and temps will hold to the mid 60's along the ridgelines to the low 80's for the valleys, with spotty light showers possible throughout the day. Isolated shower chances remain through the night and continue into tomorrow, however more sunshine develops tomorrow so all in all the rain event is done and drier weather is around the corner.

Wednesday through Friday will feature sunny skies but temps will respond as they push into the mid 80's each afternoon, with a possibility temps on Friday only make it to the low 80's, but either way you slice it, above average temps will continue this week. Overnight lows will dip into the upper 50's - low 60's under clear skies, so at least we'll have a cooler start to each day.

We'll circle back Wednesday morning to provide insight into the upcoming weekend as shower chances should ramp up with the change in flow from the west to out of the south by Saturday.
