Rain Chances Ramp Up Wednesday
Good Morning Folks! After some pop up showers this weekend, we'll continue to experience isolated to scattered shower coverage this afternoon and Tuesday, however by Wednesday the setup becomes more conducive for widespread showers. This carries into the the latter part of the week and by the weekend it seems we'll deal with muggy conditions and scattered to widespread showers, however we can't say for certain as our forecast range is more accurate anywhere from one to five days, as opposed to five plus days out; check back in Wednesday for a weekend update.
Generally, a westerly flow over the region today and tomorrow will give way to an approaching front Wednesday, with the mid week front lingering nearby Thursday and possibly lifting north Friday. By Friday and into the weekend an upper level trough to our west will usher more moisture into the region, hence the muggy setup and although shower activity increases Wednesday into the weekend, temps will cool down from the mid - upper 80's today to the upper 70's Friday.
Sunshine and passing clouds will make up most of the action today for the majority of the region, however ridgeline showers and thunderstorms are possible, so keep this in mind if you have a hike or outdoor activity planned for the day. This setup will carry over into Tuesday and both afternoons will feature temps rising to the upper 60's along the ridgelines, but reach the mid - upper 80's across the valleys. Overnight lows dip into the low - mid 60's alongside fog developing past midnight, with no shower activity expected through the overnight hours.
Wednesday is likely to be our wettest day of the work week and the keyword there is work week as the weekend may prove to be wetter due to higher moisture levels. A passing front will swing through the region before or shortly after sunset, sparking scattered thunderstorms by the mid afternoon hours for our part of the state. Cloudy skies will cap temps to the low - mid 80's across the valleys, while the ridgelines enjoy temps in the upper 60's.
Mostly cloudy to partly sunny skies will sit overhead Thursday and Friday, capping temps to the upper 70's for the valleys, however scattered showers are likely each afternoon and if you have plans to mow the lawn or cut the field, you should reconsider as wet conditions begin Wednesday and linger through the weekend. We'll circle back for another update Wednesday to focus more on the weekend, however at this time the setup looks promising for another round of showers both Saturday and Sunday.
