Sunshine and Cooler Temps

Good Morning Folks! It has been a wild two weeks, with numerous sites across SW NC picking up anywhere from 12 - 25" of rain, the highest amounts found along the SC state line (escarpment). There is one report of 30.54" for the month of May, out of Bohaynee, just above Whitewater Falls and although this area picks up 90" or more each year, a third of your annual rainfall in one month is still amazing. We'll contend with pop up showers this afternoon (6/2) but tomorrow should feature more showers and perhaps slightly stronger as a front swings through the region. Drier weather moves in Monday and could linger through Wednesday, with temps anywhere from 5 - 8 degrees cooler than this weekend.

Temps today will push into the low - mid 80's for the valley and the upper 60's along the ridgelines, with more clouds than sun overhead past midday as showers begin to unfold across the area. With the overall flow out of the NW, the majority of the action will be found along the TN line, but keep in mind these showers could still be heavy and even one strong storm can put a damper on your outdoor plans. Temps settle into the upper 50's - low 60's tonight, depending upon elevation and fog is a good bet for areas that picked up rain today.

Sunday features a cold front swinging through during the afternoon hours, so be sure to get in your outdoor chores before noon, but at least temps will cool down a few degrees as they only make it to the low 80's in the valley and the mid 60's along the ridgelines. Showers clear out by the evening hours and clearing skies Sunday night will drop temps to the mid - upper 50's for the region.

Sunshine sets up shop Monday and could linger into Wednesday, but it is June, so don't be surprised if you see an isolated shower or two each afternoon. Temps only make it to the low 60's along the ridgelines Monday and the upper 70's for the valley, holding firm through the middle of the week.
