Good morning folks! We picked up decent rainfall Wednesday night into Thursday morning, with most of SW NC reporting 0.75 - 1.5" of rain. We're in for more rain this afternoon (Friday), perhaps a 0.25 - 0.50" swath by the time the sun rises on Saturday, most of this falling from the late evening - pre dawn hours. This will make for a wet NYE outing for many, but at least temps will be on the warm side of normal and not the despised 33°F and rain setup we often see in winter.
Good afternoon folks! Although not confirmed till tomorrow's morning report, it seems Highlands has reached the 100" milestone on the year after a half inch of rain has fallen across the area this morning. Most of the rain will fall Wednesday into Thursday, with a secondary round occurring Friday into Saturday; a wet NYE is likely. We will experience

Asheville just set the record for the warmest Christmas Day on record with a high of 69°F and clouds are beginning to build across the region before the front arrives. We'll experience scattered light showers this evening that will extend into the pre dawn hours, ending before sunrise on Sunday. Dry weather wraps up the holiday weekend with temps 3 - 5 degrees warmer than today (upper 60's). Clouds fill in on Monday ahead of a weak fr
Good morning folks! The forecast has been challenging to say the least, with a failed forecast on Tuesday (called for no rain and ended up with regionwide rain and sleet; snow above 5800') and again yesterday, much cooler than previously mentioned. I'll try to take another stab at this but there will be some timing issues related to the frontal passage Saturday as the models waffle back and forth between Saturday morning and late afternoon. We'll experience a warmup beginning
