Yesterday morning was a fun one, chasing snow above 5000' across southern Haywood County, where 1.5" collected at Beech Gap (hwy 215 entrance to the Parkway near Devil's Courthouse). The snow line was roughly 3500' and even the Plateau got in on the action with a dusting to a half inch reported across the Highlands - Cashiers - Lake Toxaway area above 4200'. The forecast busted Tuesday morning with a line of moderate showers pushing through the region, which is another reminder that SW NC should generally lean towards precip when the models and other outlets forecast no rain; never stop learning. We are still a go for high elevation snow later tonight into Thursday morning but the timeline has shifted somewhat, with precip coming to end sooner than previously discussed, ending sometime around noon on Thursday
Good morning folks! We kick off the month of November with a classic fall day as sunny skies, dry air, and cooler temps dominate the forecast on Monday. Temps will gradually drop as we move through the week, dipping to the low 60's Tuesday, mid 50's Wednesday, and upper 40's Thursday (across the valleys).
