Good evening folks! Quiet yet cooler weather kicks off the weekend on Saturday with mostly sunny skies overhead and temps running 3 - 4 degrees below normal for mid November. An upper level trough begins to enter the eastern portion of the US on Sunday, coupled with a cold front that should arrive sometime Sunday evening. This front will bring our region 0.10 - 0.25" of rain Sunday evening into Monday morning, ending shortly after sunrise as snow across the higher elevations

We are enjoying temps in the 70's across the region today (Wednesday) and this should be the last round of warm weather for the next 8 - 12 days with normal to below normal temps showing up on the models through Thanksgiving Day. Good afternoon folks! Mt Mitchell dropped to its lowest point this season with a low of 16°F, also making it the coldest temp for the entire region so far this season. Good morning folks! We have a chilly day on tap (Saturday) with highs running roughly 5 - 8 degrees below normal depending upon elevation, but at least its sunny and the wind is not too strong across the valleys; not so above 4500' with NW winds around 15mph.
