Dreary Thursday; Sunny this Weekend
Good afternoon folks! High clouds are lingering longer than expected and that will impact today's high temps, with highs in the upper 40's instead of the low - mid 50's as previously forecasted. A front will cross the region tonight and bring us passing clouds and an isolated rain/snow shower or two, but nothing that will impact travel Wednesday morning. MLK Day Snow; Low 50's Tues & Wed!
Good morning folks! Yesterday's snowfall was a nice treat with convective snow showers and a few snow squalls passing through the region, giving some locations a nice blanket of snow while others enjoyed the falling snow with little to no accumulations. The highest total we have seen this morning is out of the Cherohala Skyway at 5000' with 7" reported by the NCDOT, followed by a general swath of 2 - 3" across the higher elevations. Good morning folks! The first round of wintry precip is almost over as we type this discussion, with reports of light snow and sleet across the higher elevations and little to no accumulations. The cold front is moving across the region this morning and will be followed by cold air advection this afternoon, which will result in temps much cooler than yesterday by roughly 12 - 14 degrees!
