Good afternoon folks! We certainly didn't hit the nail on the head with the snowfall this morning, but it wasn't a swing and miss either, we simply botched the timing of the event and could have gone into more detail pertaining to location. High Elevation Snow Wed & Fri Night
Good afternoon folks! Here we are in the middle of the work and school week, tracking yet another round of precip that will bring us high elevation snow and a cold rain for the valleys Wednesday night into Thursday. This round of precip will be light, ending early Thursday morning and we'll enjoy a period of calm Thursday and most of the day Friday. Two Rounds of Ridgeline Snow
Good morning folks! As we type this discussion snow is falling across the highest ridgelines and snow levels will slowly move down in elevation throughout the day, stopping somewhere around 3500'. The NWS has issued a Winter Weather Advisory above 3500' for most of SW NC and it seems snowfall totals will range based on elevation, with the high range capping out around 6 - 7" for the Smokies. Another Round of Ridgeline Snow
Good afternoon folks! Close to a half inch of freezing rain occurred above 5500' Friday morning and snow even fell later that afternoon, continuing into the morning hours on Saturday, with 1 - 2 inches of snow being reported out of Maggie Valley above 4500'; an extremely isolated event. A Wintry Mix and Cold Rain Combo
Good morning folks! We are tracking our next round of precip that is currently to our south and west, pushing northeast into the region this afternoon. Currently (midday Thursday) temps are struggling to rise above the 40's and some spotty snow may fall before the main event arrives, but the airmass in place is dry enough to keep this possibility quite low. Showers push into the region tonight and expand in coverage from the south to north, continuing into Friday with several
