Temps this morning were a few degree below forecasted levels, with the coldest spot found atop Mt Mitchell at 33.3°F, while the rest of the 6100 - 6400' ridgelines sat in the mid - upper 30's. The valleys enjoyed temps as low as the low - mid 40's and by Saturday morning we'll be back in the 40's, but not as cold as the 30's. It sure has been a soggy weekend and looking ahead it seems the abundant moisture stream will continue into at least Wednesday, with scattered showers and thunderstorms each day. We have not hit the forecasted totals along the escarpment, but we are close and elsewhere across SW NC we are on track with 2 - 4" already in the bucket since last Wednesday. Good morning folks! Most of the region has picked up a half inch of rain since Wednesday, however numerous sites surpassed the one inch mark and a handful reached 1.5". We'll pick up another 0.5 - 2" across the region today (Friday), while this weekend brings us 3 - 5" of rain depending upon location. Monday and Tuesday keep the rain train going with another 0.5 - 2" over the 48 hour period and although we forecast these amounts, all it takes is one thunderstorm to stall over
